I hosted our first Art Day Outing a while back and it was such fun! In Salt Lake City they have these amazing murals painted by the 377 Project Artists.
The project is called the Urban Gallery and we found it at Neighborhood House (1050 West 500 South), but there’s a good chance it’s no longer there. On June 12th and 13th, ten of Salt Lake City’s best artists were given a garage door and 18 hours to repaint it. The audience picked one artist to win a $1000 prize!
“Altogether, it was one of the most exciting nights of art we’ve experienced, and we’ve put a good many miles into the monthly gallery stroll. Once again the 337 Project has delved into Salt Lake’s underground creativity and brought up gems most of us didn’t even know were there.” –Salt Lake Magazine
If you are in the Salt Lake City area, do a drive-by and check it out. Not in Utah? Find out if there’s something like this in your area and bring some friends along!
The girls and I had some fun events planned to do the next two Fridays and I decided to just turn them into “Art Days” and invite all of you to come along!!

Can’t decide which one to go to? Well…then come to both!
While reading Last Child into the Woods by Richard Louv I decided to start “Nature Days” and invite others to come along. Some of my fondest memories growing up were unstructured “play times” in Nature. Here is an excerpt from the book:
We have such a brief opportunity to pass on to our children our love for this Earth, and to tell our stories. These are the moments when the world is made whole. In my children’s memories, the adventures we’ve had together in nature will always exist. These will be their turtle tales.
Utah’s Natural Kids will be having our SIXTH Nature Day.
Nature Days are quite simple and low key. We meet together to explore nature without set activities. We let the kids play and explore together in nature. Don’t expect to show up and be told what to do or that this is a “planned” activity. But it will still be a wonderful experience for the children to participate in every month.
Monday, May 4th at 10am
It will be a great opportunity to let your children enjoy nature alongside other children. No playground, no toys, no itinerary–the perfect way to have an adventure!
Please send me an email at email@example.com if you interested in coming and would like directions.
